A little history about me....

Although I am a bit late "entering" the blogging world, I feel like the new year is a good time to get started on something I have intended to do for quite some time. As a blog stalker over the past few years, I have realized how beneficial it is to learn from those around us in all avenues of life, running, training, challenging our own ideas, decision making, etc. Yet, writing, creativity, and humor are not exactly my strengths. But, I suppose that is what the new year is all about...trying something new, making change, challenging oneself.

If you have stumbled upon this blog, a quick history of me... I am from a town south of Green Bay....yes, i am a packer fan, went to Saint Olaf College in Northfield, and I am a runner. I have a wonderful group of running buddies, many of which are men. I would never know most of them if it wasn't for running. I have learned so much about politics, sports, raising kids and, of course, their PRs. But, most importantly, I have developed a great support system of inspirational people. At the end of the day, I love to race but I really love my running buddies.

I started running in college and was fortunate to have an amazing coach, Chris Daymont. I ran the 55 meter dash, not because I was fast. Rather, the coaches were afraid I would die if I ran any longer. After recognizing that I don't have a spec of speed in my legs, she told me to go home and run during the summer and, because there were 50+ women on the cross country team, I would be able to fit in.....somewhere. SO, that is what I did. I returned the next fall and found a spot on the cross country team and never turned back. The decision to start running and become part of the team at Saint Olaf is still one of the best and has had the greatest influence on my life, even today.

After graduating, I ran my first marathon (TCM) in which I think I had more swear words than steps in the last 10k. Although I swore I would never do another marathon again, here I am 10 years later, still chasing that crazy distance. During this time, I realized I wanted to help people be active, remain active, and achieve whatever it is they set out to do. After a few injuries running, I decided I wanted to go to chiropractic school. I was not solely focused on chiropractic as I was to develop diagnostic skills and manual treatment tools to help identify and treat injury.

I have specific interest in the diagnosis and treatment of sports injury, more specifically repetitive use injury as well as injury prevention and treatment related to sitting at a computer, plumbing, wiring a house, and others. After many conversations with people I have treated, classes I have taken in regards to movement, stretching, treatment, injury prevention, and my own experience as an athlete, i hope you find this useful!
